June 2nd 2010 – my 365 – Plan B Organic Farms
Today I received my first “share” of food from Plan B Organic Farm in Branchton, ON. We ordered the fruit share and a half veggie share. Here’s our order:
The Fruit share is everything to the left of the lettuce and asparagus. They included some apples in the vegetable share, which was cool. One thing I want you to understand is, you can’t think like you’re at …insert grocery store chain name here… you’re getting farm fresh foods. They don’t look perfect(well, almost). They look like real food taken from the soil. Not grown in perfection like most of the food you find at the grocery store. Some of the food sizes seem small, but remember, we are still at the very beginning of the season, almost nothing is growing yet. Also, you are buying into a true harvesting plan. If you buy this one time, you may be disappointed(not me though). You have to buy into the whole season to get the real value of this program. Your food will be bigger and the portions will be a little bigger as well.
I’m really impressed with what we got. The quality seems very high and I can’t wait to start eating some of the salads. I already had an apple and so did the kids. The pickup location was great too. It was someone’s house with a truck in their driveway. You sign your name to say you’ve receive your share and they give you a crate for your food. Next week, you bring the crate back and pick up your new share.
I’m giving these guys two thumbs up and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings.
January 7th 2010 – my 365
I hope I don’t drive everyone crazy with my off camera flash, but I’ve got to admit I’m very excited.
Tonight I was planning on doing a ring shot. I’m sure you all remember how much I love ring shots from last year. However, I accidently took this shot and guess what. I thought it was cool enough to share. So no ring shot tonight, probably tomorrow. Also, this shot was straight out of the camera.

January 6th 2010 – my 365 – Gear Wednesdays
So tonight is a shot taken with my new Alien Bee Triggers/Remotes. Not only is this going to be part of my 365, this is also the start of a new segment for me. Gear Wednesdays. I’m going to talk about the gear I used, my setup and settings.
I’m posting both a before and after picture tonight to show what it looks like with flash and without flash. Both pictures have the exact same settings on the camera:
F/5 1/160 ISO 200These were taken with my good old Rebel XT and my EFS 17-85mm lens. The Flash is a Canon Speedlite 430EX mounted on a tripod behind the boxes. I didn’t take a setup shot tonight, oops. Also, I know it’s not technically the best picture you’ve ever seen. I was just excited to have received the triggers this morning.
There was some ambient light from above, but as you can see in the second picture it didn’t do anything to the pictures. The Flash overpowered it significantly. There was only the speedlite behind the boxes and slightly below. It was on manual control and full power.

Hey fanclub! Sorry for no picture today. I’m prepping for Cuba and my brand new HP Laptop died that I got at Future Shop. So I had to exchange it tonight. They didn’t have any, so I “upgraded” to a Toshiba. Hopefully get a better experience out of this one! I’ll be back soon.

I found this barbershop a few years ago when I lived in Oakville. Hands down the best place around. I thought I’d throw a shout out to these guys for always doing a great job.

Wedding Rings in Cables
The fan on my video card is crapping out, so I have to leave the side of my computer off and "tap" the fan once in a while to keep it quiet. So I thought, let’s take the rings our of the "norm" and put integrate them into some technology.

Hayden outside
Took the kids and the camera for a walk today. Found this little gem in the batch. Not the best focus or sharpness, but it was too cute.

Not doing so good with the 365 right now. When doing this kind of 365, it is very tough to take a picture every day and post it. Some days, there are just no opportunity to do it, like this week and dealing with 3 sick kids and a sick yourself!

Missed another day.
Today was Hayden’s first birthday and he and I spent it in bed sleeping. I don’t mean first thing in the morning all cute and cuddly, I mean woke up went to work, picked up the kids from daycare and then came home.
He and I were really sick, so we went to bed at 6:30pm. Oh yeah, the 2 girls were sick too. So my wife and parents enjoyed a nice lasagna and cake while the rest of us were sick.

For today Wednesday March 11th, I’m going to miss another shoot. I’ll be back tomorrow I’m sure. It’s Hayden-man’s birthday.

Missed another day of shooting, but it was my brother’s 34th birthday.
