February 28th 2010 – my 365 – strike a pose

You could replace the shovel with a guitar and she’d be striking the perfect pose!   This one is SOOC as well.

February 27th 2010 – my 365 – I Saw that!

The finishing touches on any home reno project always seem to take the most work and time.  We are down to the trim…

February 26th 2010 – my 365 – snow trees and moon

I’ve been loving my 22-55 lens that my wife purchased for me.  Steal of a deal let me tell ya!  Only 5.99 @ value village!

Tonight I thought I’d venture out into the snow.  Armed with my Sorels and ski jacket, it was off into the winter wonderland to shoot some landscapes.

February 24th 2010 – my 365 – Coke display

I went to Loblaws to get some lunch today.  Ended up with their rock hard baguettes.  Man, they break your teeth, but they are good.  Walking past the fruit aisle, I saw this cool display.  Well done!

Misc Monday – February 22nd edition – 2 week update

So much, so much, so much.  I feel like I’m letting my loyal followers down.  At the beginning of the year I wanted to make a concentrated effort to post regular content.  I started with a new 365 project, weekly Monday updates and Gear Wednesdays.  I’ve run into a few hiccups already.  Yup, I missed 2 Mondays already and I also missed my first picture of my 365 this week.  I also missed a Gear Wednesday post.  So I really need to step this back up for ya’ll!

——————————————————

Lots more work happened on the home reno front.  I’m excited to finish the bathroom and show you some shots.  It looks great and I can’t wait to have a full bathroom again.  The only downside is that this means the next project has to start.  I guess I can always just leave it hanging!  I’d better not say that as Susie reads this every day…

——————————————————

I also delivered the final images to Krista & Mark.  You can see all the goodness here.

——————————————————

My kids just aren’t saying anything cute these days, so no new posts on the twitter site.

——————————————————

Also, my google reader account is getting backed up.  I just downloaded a cool app for my iPhone, so I can now read my favourite blogs while out and about.
——————————————————

Did I hear that Photoshop turned 20 this week?  That is amazing.  It is such a great tool.  Does anyone out there not use it?  If so, please comment below!  I’m always interested in hearing what else people are using.

Well, that’s it for now, just a few quick hits.  It’s getting late and I need to eat dinner before heading off to bed.  I know my drive in to work tomorrow won’t be fun.

Here’s a quick shot from a wedding I was a second shooter for last summer.

February 22nd 2010 – my 365 – snow day

Ah snow.  I love the white fluffy stuff.  I just don’t like it when driving home or to work.

I bet Vancouver wishes they had this much snow right now.

Hamilton Wedding Photographer – Krista & Mark Married

What a way to kick off the year! After a couple month of down time and not shooting a lot around the holidays, I was itching to get out and shoot a wedding. I’ve had January 23rd circled on my calendar for a while now, because I knew it was going to be an awesome day.  That Saturday I shot an amazing wedding at Carmens in Hamilton, ON.  Joining me for the day was the equally awesome Peter Rainford aka rainypete as my second shooter.

I had the pleasure to shoot their engagement photos back in July.  Krista and Mark are warm, wonderful people and I couldn’t be happier for them. I’ve enjoyed getting to know both Krista & Mark as well as their son Maverick.  Everyone in the wedding, including all of Krista’s Dads, made me feel like “an old friend with a fancy camera”.

Our favourite images can be found below these terrific vendors…

February 21st 2010 – my 365 – Relaxing

So back to home renovations.  Today was finish grouting and install the new flooring.  I’ve thoroughly destroyed my shoulders, back and knees.  So now it’s time to put up my feet, relax and watch Canada take on the US.

February 20th 2010 – my 365 – missed!

OK.  I knew it was going to happen, and yesterday it was.  Yup, I missed taking a picture.  So I’m not even posting anything.  Not even an old picture.

February 19th 2010 – my 365 – Delivering the Goods

One of my favourite parts of shooting weddings.  Getting back together with the bride and groom.  I love to see how they are doing 1 month later.  I love to see the smiles on their faces.  20100219 0003 web February 19th 2010 my 365 Delivering the Goods

February 18th 2010 – my 365 – Thomas the tank engine

My sons loves to go to Chapters.  Why?  Because they have a giant table full of tracks and all kinds of tank engines to play with.  So for Christmas this year, we decided to buy him a table and track set of his own.  Well, like most kids, he likes it more when it’s at Chapters then when he can play it at home.  Don’t get me wrong, we still have fun with it, but most of the time we’re building the tracks and he’s taking them apart.

February 17th 2010 – my 365 – I’ve got the power

Every day while I’m cleaning up from my home reno projects, I get to have a look over at my power cables.  One day, I’d like to build a box around them, but that would mean more time away from  my camera.  So not gonna happen any time soon.

February 16th 2010 – my 365 – Mardi Gras = Fat Tuesday

Man did we eat like kings tonight.  I had my parents over for our annual Mardi Gras fiesta.  This year it included 3lbs of bacon and all you can eat pancakes.  I’m thinking next year we turn it up a notch and have this party with everyone.

February 15th 2010 – my 365 – My clutter

I really need to clean this up.  I’ve been working non-stop on non-photography related projects around the house.  I’ve been trying not to take pictures as I go along.   I only want to show my finished work.  So you’ll have to stay tuned for that.  Hopefully once these renovations are done, I’ll be able to post some great shots that I’ve been hanging on to.

February 14th 2010 – my 365 – Olympic Gold for Alex Bilodeau

I was enjoying my evening with my wife last night.  We decided to take a break from everything and just enjoy our evening once the kids were in bed.  A nice glass of wine and some Olympic sports.  Well, did we ever get a show.  Canada nearly took gold and silver but got knocked out.  Then Alex flew down the hill, nailed his jumps and took Gold.  That was good enough.

Gear Wednesdays – Gear Bags

Tonight I wanted to shed some light on what holds all of our gear. Our Gear bags. I took this photo a few weeks ago before the last wedding I shot.

On the left you can see a small Lowepro Canon bag. This was the first bag I had purchased. Back in the day, it was good enough. I only had my Rebel XT and 1 lens. Then I purchased my next lens, then another, then a flash, then some accessories. So as I kept adding gear, I never upgraded my bag. So off to every photoshoot with the same little Lowepro. Finally this year, my wife gave me this new lowerpro backpack for Christmas. Best gift ever.

As you start to purchase more gear it is equally important to upgrade how you transport your gear from site to site.

February 10th 2010 – my 365 – Snow you don’t

For the last few weeks whenever it has snowed outside, Desiree has asked if she can eat the snow.  So we’ve been teaching her not to eat any snow that is on the sidewalk or roadways.  Also, no yellow or brown snow, and you can’t eat anything near foot prints.  Well, she’s been doing really good at not eating almost any snow.  But today after our snowfall, she couldn’t help it.  She needed to eat some snow.  So after dinner, I got her a bowl and scooped up some fresh snow from our backyard where nobody goes.  She ate 2 bowls.

Misc Monday – February 8th edition – 2 week update

Hello fellow readers and photographers.  What happened to me last week?  I don’t know.  I goofed.  I knew it was going all wrong when it was groundhog day and I still didn’t post.  It made me think back to the movie.  I had planned a great Monday article, but that’s the problem, I only planned it.  So this week, I didn’t plan it.  I’m just going it at full tilt.

So my 365 reached it’s 1 month mark.  I’ve done great and haven’t missed a day.  I need to start taking more walks at lunch and taking pictures.  There’s only so much you can photograph in your house.

On Thursday of last week, I discovered a great new band.  Airbourne.  If you’re an AC/DC fan, I highly recommend checking them out.  They pick up where AC/DC should have stopped 10 years ago.

We also did a bunch of home renovations.  I’m trying not to take pictures of them until they are all finished.  So stay tuned for those in about another 2 months or so.

So tonight I’m finishing up some images from my last wedding.  It’s been a while since I shot a wedding, so I’m having a great time with these pictures.  There are so many winners in this batch.
