Wine Glasses 2
Tried a few angles on this shot. I liked the way the glasses at the back almost look like they’re tipping towards the camera.
Used a Polarizing Filter on my 50mm 1.8 tonight. It reduced the glare in each glass allowing you to see through each one better. I would have liked to try this with the other shot from a few nights ago now!!

Shrove Tuesday 2009
Had pancakes for dinner, because the mornings are WAY too busy. Hayden had a blast.

A flower for family day
Spent the day with my family, then the afternoon took everyone over to my parents place. My mom has had this plant since Christmas. It wasn’t suppose to last more than a few weeks.

Rambo Creek
Got sick and tired of shooting inside, so I took a little walk while the kids were having their nap. Found this awesome looking ice pattern near a dip in the creek.

Happy Valentines Day
The line-up at the flower counter at Fortinos today was crazy. Me and every other man in Burlington were lined-up to get flowers.

Mesa Engineering
My second Mesa Boogie amp. I had an F-50 and it was great. But I’ve always wanted a rectifier. So I upgraded. You can’t go wrong with a Mesa!

My first Photobook.
Just received my first Photobook from Photobook Canada www.photobookcanada.com. I am very impressed so far. The quality is very good and the pictures turned out awesome. Even the ones that I didn’t fix up too much (or at all) in Photoshop.
They have an awesome deal going on right now, where I received a second photobook for free. The printing was done within 7 days and they shipped via Canada Post. The packaging that they arrived in was good as well, the books were not damaged at all. I highly recommend checking them out for your next printing needs. The software is also very easy to use and you can make some pretty amazing designs on your own. I’m not a graphic designer, but the tools they give allow you to really do anything you want!

Trans Siberian Orchestra Guitar Picks
From their recent show in Hamilton. Received their guitar picks at the meet and greet.
If you haven’t checked them out, make sure you do next time they hit you city.
What happened to Alan???
So I dropped off the face of the planet last Wednesday. Here’s what’s going on:
Wednesday Jan 28th:
- Exhausted from Hayden (10 month old) having an extremely high fever for 3 days and sleeping with him in the basement on the couch on my chest.
- Go to my 9-5, come home tend to Hayden again, try to play with Desiree (3 year old). Put her to bed and end up passing out till around 10:00pm. I decided that I would have to miss 1 day of my 365, a decision I was not happy about, but didn’t have the energy to do anything about either!!
Thursday Jan 29th:
- Woke up, got all the kids ready to go, missed my morning shower(yes I’m admitting that!!!), got dressed, packed the car and went to work.
- By 12:00pm I knew I was done. It hit me full on. I ended up passing out at my desk a few times that afternoon and taking Tylenol to combat the fever that was starting.
- 5:00pm hit and I was out of there. It’s not often that I ask my wife to drive home, but when I do, she knows that something is very wrong with me.
- Passed out on the couch and I have no idea what happened after that, but I somehow ended in my bed and had a terrible night sleep.
Friday Jan 30th:
- Called in sick to work, called my dad to take me to the clinic as I could barely move. Now I had an extremely high fever, the chills, a sore throat, aching muscles. Pretty much everything shut down.
- Got to the clinic and got diagnosed with the flu and strep throat.
- They gave me a prescription for Azithromycin. If you ever get this, tell them you want something else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (more on that later).
- Got back to my parents house and was ordered on 24 hour nurse supervision. I had a nurse check in on my in person every 3 hours to make sure I was medicating. So even if you’re finally asleep, KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK WAKE UP!
- Spent the rest of the day in bed, another rough night. Still had the fever even though I was on the Tylenol.
Saturday Jan 31st:
- Woke up feeling pretty bad, still getting beat up from the medical staff to stay on course with the meds.
- hung around all day either in a sitting position or laying down. Pretty much read Motley Crue “the dirt”.
- Didn’t get any relief from any of the medications, so all those symptoms were still around all day long.
- Back to bed for another long night.
Sunday Feb 1st:
- Ahhh, Last night was rock bottom (or so I thought!). Ended up finally vomiting. I hadn’t had that yet! Also, my body went completely numb as I was laying back in bed I ended up blacking out. Luckily I was almost completely in bed when that happened, otherwise I would have woken up on the floor or in a really weird position, which I’m sure the medical staff would have taken pictures of!
- When I woke up, I actually felt pretty good. Still very sore and what-not but somehow better. I could feel my body starting to get “drug sick”. That’s when you’ve been consuming so many drugs that it doesn’t feel like they’re doing anything anymore no matter how many you take. Plus you get very lethargic because your system is not operating on it’s own anymore.
- By mid afternoon I started to go downhill again.
- By evening it was back to the bad stuff.
- Tried watching the Superbowl, I think I remember some parts!
- By sleepy time, it was all bad
Monday Feb 2nd:
- Whoa, last night was even more rock bottom that the night before. Who knew!
- Forced myself to take my meds at 8:00am. My nurse was not going to be there that morning, so the only other person in the house was my dad.
- By 8:30am I was asleep, by 9:00am I was on the floor in the bathroom dying. By 9:05, it was time for 9-1-1. Rock bottom is an onion(or photoshop), it apparently has layers!
- Took me to Oakville-Trafalger Hospital.
- 10:00am arrived, transferred me to a wheelchair as there were no beds
- 10:20am finally got checked in by the triage nurse then placed in the waiting room.
- Let me mention at this point I have not had any medication as I haven’t been able to keep anything down since 5:30am.
- 4:00pm my turn. Yes, 4:00pm they finally got me in front of a doctor. Now, I made a few friends that day as there was about 7 of us who seemed to have been skipped all day. One poor man was there at 8:00am and he only got in at 3:30pm. The 9:00am guy with the, what might have been a dislocated shoulder got in at 3:45pm. Not sure what time the rest of them got in, but I did see them in there.
- The doctor that saw me, was pretty cool. Ordered me some blood work and an I.V. The nurse that took care of delivering needles was not friendly. She decided to use a vein near the base of my thumb, even though I asked to use one further up my arm. Well, ever since that I can no longer hold on to cups or grip anything as well I could before. Hmmm…
- Got released from the hospital and shipped back to my parents house for another night.
Tuesday Feb 3rd:
- Finally woke up actually feeling better. Not sure what that Dr. prescribed to go with the I.V. but whatever it was it was some good stuff. I felt like I did that Sunday morning. Not great, but on the way to recovery. I was actually able to eat breakfast (and take my new Penicillin), lunch and dinner!
- I finally ended up going home Tuesday night. Watched a little TV with my wife, whom I hadn’t seen since Friday morning.
Wednesday Feb 4th (today!):
Well, still not well at all. I was able to finally check some emails, update my blog, but other than that, I’m exhausted. I can’t guaranty that I’ll be able to post a pic to my 365 tonight, but hopefully tomorrow I’ll be back on track. I can’t wait to get back to my 9-5 ( I also can’t believe I said that!). I don’t like daytime TV and there’s only so much sitting or laying down that one can do.
Thanks for reading, hopefully you got to the end!
